How Will Tyler A. Kirklin Treat My TMJ Symptoms?
Tyler A. Kirklin uses a combination of state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to accurately and efficiently assess the position and condition of your jaw, your bite and your muscles.
The first step is to relax your jaw and muscles using a TENs unit. This will gently stimulate your muscles and allow them to relax into their most comfortable state. Patients who have experienced chronic pain love this treatment because it offers some level of instant relief.
Diagnosis continues with jaw sonography. Sonography equipment lets us measure jaw sounds against healthy jaw movement, track the duration of sounds and pinpoint their exact location to better understand your specific TMD issues. The test is non invasive and painless.
We also use the Myotronics K7 Evaluation System to analyze your jaw at rest and in motion, tracking the movement and position of the joint.
After completion of your TMJ disorder evaluation, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan. Every plan is designed to offer relief as quickly and completely as possible and may include dental restorations, orthotics, coronoplasty, or full-mouth restoration. Most of our patients are surprised and happy to find that they not only experience relief from pain and a cessation of headaches, they also often experience an improved and more beautiful smile!
